Earlier, during the Computex exhibition, Intel unveiled a line-up of new powerful processors Core X. Now, the company finally shared the characteristics of the whole line-up. The most interesting of them is of course i9 – the world’s first 18-core desktop (laptop) processor for consumer audience. Here’s a further review.
The Intel Core i9 processor consists of many chipsets – from 12 to 18 cores, like i9-7920X or i9-7980XE Extreme Edition. All processors are more oriented towards users who require serious software for working or playing games. Plus, most processors are integrated with the technology Turbo Boost. For example, the i9-7980XE chipset has a clock speed of 2.6GHz in regular mode but Turbo Boost 2.0 can speed it up to 4.2GHz. What’s more, Turbo Boost 3.0, which raises the productivity of every single core separately, can do even more – 4.4GHz.
Apart from that, the line-up included the updated Intel i5 and i7 processors. Obviously, both of them are now more powerful.
Intel Core i9 processors will be released quite soon: the version with 12 cores on August 28 and other versions (14-18 cores) – on September 25.
