Smartphone Era May Be Coming to an End

Today, it seems like smartphones have completely conquered the world and some people even talk of a smartphone era. However, it may not last long and it’s not just a proofless statement. A group of scientists from all over the world, headed by experts from University of Delaware, conducted an investigation and its results are quite interesting.

According to scientists, the smartphone market faces an inevitable problem – the demand will eventually surpass the supply. The main reason for it is the shortage of key components required for making smartphones, tablets, laptops, and so on. These components include minerals and raw materials that are mined all over the world. Unfortunately, there is no international coordination of mineral substance deliveries.

Plus, considering that the world population may increase to 8.5 billion by 2030, the demand for more smartphones will only escalate, and so will the need for more minerals.

Experts are trying to find a way out by looking for more mineral deposits. But the process of discovering them and starting the mining takes too long. Besides, not all deposits are commercially beneficial.

So far, the scientists haven’t come up with a solution to this heating problem.
