The whole Galaxy Note 7 scandal seems to finally be over, as Samsung has cancelled its production irrevocably. However, a lot of users continue to still use potentially dangerous smartphones and these people don’t really want to “break up” with their devices. For example, in the USA there are still 285 thousand functional devices and any of them presents a threat to users’ health and life.
That’s why Samsung is going to take decisive measures to ensure the safety of Note 7 users. The company isn’t keen on potentially having thousands of lawsuits on their hands, so from 15th of December all Galaxy Note 7 in the USA will be forcefully switched off.
This operation will be executed with the software update which will be installed on smartphones regardless of the user’s consent or dissent. Any Note 7 must be connected to mobile Internet for the installation of the update. The update will block the ability of smartphones to charge, so all models will stop working and eventually become “bricks”.
Earlier, Samsung has already taken certain measures to limit the functionality of Galaxy Note 7, for example, in New Zealand. After the USA, this operation is likely to spread on other countries.
