NVIDIA Artificial Intelligence Platform for Self-Driving Cars

Self-driving cars are closer than you think – NVIDIA just unveiled its Drive PX platform with a code name Pegasus. According to the company, this is the world’s first artificial intelligence system made for fully autonomous robotized taxis. The Pegasus will allow creating autopilot fifth-level vehicles which can work completely on their own – no driver, no steering wheel, no pedals but an office- or home-styled interior inside.

The platform is capable of processing more than 320 trillion operations per second which is 10 times more compared to its predecessor, NVIDIA Drive PX 2. The Pegasus is based on four processors for AI tasks. The platform has two SOC (system-on-a-chip) NVIDIA Xavier processors and two new-generation graphics processors designed to accelerate the tasks of in-depth training and computer vision.

Pegasus has ASIL D security level certification and is equipped with self-contained inputs and outputs, including CAN, Flexray, 16 special high-speed inputs for cameras, radars, lidars and ultrasonic sensors as well as 10 Gbps Ethernet connectors. The total memory bandwidth is more than 1 Tbps.

The NVIDIA Drive PX Pegasus platform will be available for NVIDIA partners in the second half of 2018.
