Oculus New VR technology – Next Step Virtual Reality

Oculus VR, company famous for virtual reality goggles Oculus Rift and owned by Facebook, presented its vision of the virtual web during Oculus Connect conference in San Francisco. Additionally the company announced the new JavaScript framework ReactVR adapted for VR Web. Company developers spoke about a specialized web browser called Carmel that is specifically designed for virtual reality web.

Carmel demo version is expected to be released in the near future and it will work with any Oculus VR device. It will allow the user to surf the web using virtual reality goggles. Interestingly, VR web reflect the original open web concept – without lengthy load times that anyone can use with the help of laptop or a smartphone. Examples included simple spherical interactive images, that allow the user to observe a car commercial from inside the advertised vehicle.
