New Laptops with Qualcomm

At the exhibition Computex 2017 in Taipei, Microsoft announced the launch of the first PCs on Windows 10 running on Qualcomm mobile ARM processors.

As reported in Microsoft, the release of laptops, which will be equipped with the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, will be made by Asus, HP and Lenovo. Also, representatives of Microsoft and Qualcomm noted that future PCs will feature improved power consumption and be supported by LTE networks. In doing so, they will fully support the work of all Windows-based applications.

Representatives of Qualcomm and Microsoft didn’t specify when new laptops come out. Earlier Qualcomm executive director Steve Mollenkopf noted that the first computers with Windows 10 operating on ARM processors will appear no earlier than the fourth quarter of this year.

As a reminder, the octa-core Snapdragon 835 processor, which works on a 10-nm technical process Samsung FinFET, was developed by Qualcomm in cooperation with Samsung. Currently, it’s used in a number of flagship Android smartphones, including Samsung Galaxy S8, HTC U11 and Xiaomi Mi 6.
