The VR market is welcoming the new member – the Chinese company Pimax presented its VR headset which might even be called the most advanced of all. The company took many things into account while making the headset. In such important aspects, as image quality, refresh rate or viewing angle, Pimax is much better than popular VR headsets, like Oculus Rift or HTC Vive.
The main thing about the Pimax headset is the display resolution. It is the world’s first VR headset with 8K resolution (2 х 3840×2160). The total amount of pixels is 16.6 million which is almost 8 times more than in HTC Vive or Oculus Rift. Apart from that, Pimax headset has a 200-degree viewing angle resulting in a more immersive VR experience.
Pimax headset comes with the support of all 3 biggest VR platforms: Steam VR, PiPlay (company’s proprietary service) and Oculus Home. To operate the headset, the user will have special sensing controllers for capturing hand movements and navigating in VR environments. Pimax VR is currently available for pre-order on Kickstarter.
