Making holograms is a very complicated but hi-tech field. However, the possibility of using this technology is so attractive that many scientists around the world are trying their best to make holograms more widespread.
For example, Chinese and Australian scientists from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology made a ground-breaking discovery in hologram development. They created the thinnest hologram ever – 25 nm thick which is 1 000 times thinner than a human hair. Moreover, the hologram is visible to the naked eye even without special 3D glasses. Scientists already called this discovery the most important in creating consumer devices with holographic images.
This nanotechnology was developed on laser writing, which makes its application practically limitless. For instance, once the hologram pixels are reduced, a rigid thin film could be placed on LCD screens of any electronic devices.
Unfortunately, the project still has to go through many technological stages before being put in mass production. Still, this is a revolutionary step hologram development. Hopefully, we’ll see this technology in different homes appliances and mobile devices.
