New iPhone With a Flexible OLED Displays

According to the news agency Bloomberg, Apple is engaged in active negotiations with the Chinese company BOE Technology Group about shipping flexible OLED displays for future iPhones.

Apple, Bloomberg says, has been testing BOE displays for quite some time now and still isn’t sure about picking this particular company. Nonetheless, BOE is expanding its production capabilities planning to build two more factories and invest $14.5 bill. into them.

Even if the negotiations are successful, there’s still much time before we really see an iPhone with a flexible display. It won’t definitely be iPhone 8. This one will feature Samsung displays. But the displays from the Chinese manufacturer are most likely to appear in the future smartphones, starting from 2018.

Earlier, BOE was never mentioned as one of the potential suppliers of flexible displays. The list of its contenders featured big names, like Samsung, LG, Sharp, and so on. Anyway, Apple is obviously preparing something truly innovative for future iPhones and we can’t wait.
