Intel Announced Gigabit LTE Modem

The mobile wireless network speeds are getting higher and higher. The Gigabit LTE is the next big advancement in this area. And the first steps have already been taken – the first gigabit LTE network has been launched in Australia by the local mobile operator Telstra and MWC 2017 will feature the first smartphone supporting these speeds – ZTE Gigabit Phone. And soon, the world will see another accomplishment in this area.

Intel decided to fight for this market as well. The famous company introduced a new LTE-modem called XMM 7560. The device supports super-fast speeds – 1Gbps for data downloading and 225Mbps for data uploading. The modem was designed to be used in smartphones, tablets, laptops and other mobile devices.

Obviously, this modem boasts much higher speeds than regular LTE networks. But the answer to the question “How much higher?” is yet to be revealed. One of Intel’s representatives claimed that XMM 7560 would actually bring gigabit speeds to the people. Of course, it’s a bit of an overstatement because such results can be only achieved in laboratory conditions. Yet, Intel is very optimistic about this product because it can really revolutionize the mobile device market in terms of Internet speed.

There is no information about the release date of Intel XMM 7560 now. But chances are, we can see a lot of new gigabit smartphones and tablets in a couple of years.
