During the 57th Battery Symposium in Japan, Huawei presented new, innovative batteries, produced by scientists from Watt Laboratory. According to manufacturers, they work for twice as long, compared to similar products. Plus, they withstand high-temperature operation much better.
These lithium-ion batteries use graphene which cools them down and protects them from overheating. As a result, Huawei batteries can be operated at higher temperatures – 60°C. Most of the modern batteries work at 50°C. According to test results, at high temperatures new batteries were 5% colder than their regular lithium-ion analogues.
Huawei representatives claim that this new technology can be used in drones, electro-cars and other devices, especially if they are mostly placed under the direct sunlight. Also, they could very helpful in countries with hot weather conditions.
By the way, that wasn’t the only novelty, presented by Huawei at the symposium. The company has unveiled the new quick charge technology. As a demonstration, a 3000mAh battery was charged to 50% in only 5 minutes.
In the future, the technology may be used in mobile devices, including smartphones, tablets and laptops
