It’s safe to say that Apple devices are very influential on all fronts. There’s no point in arguing that iPhones are among the best of smartphones, just like iPads of tablets and MacBooks of laptops. But this also applies to other products, like PCs. One day, any Windows user may have an idea of buying a Mac device. In other cases, Apple lovers need to update their older models. And this raises a question – if you choose a PC for home and work, which one should you go with – iMac or Mac mini?
Usually, the first thing you look at and compare when choosing a PC is specs. The stores offer a lot of configurations of both these devices. In this area, iMac has a serious advantage – 4-core processor against 2-core, better graphics chipset and bigger RAM. Plus, you get a huge 21.5-inch display with 1920×1080 resolution. What’s more, you can pair your iMac with a 4K display. Obviously, this costs a lot of money but results will be spectacular. This solution would go for designers or anyone who works with text.
The next point of comparison is the looks. iMac is much more aesthetically pleasing. As Mac mini requires an additional monitor, there are too many cables. iMac doesn’t have a problem like that. Besides, it has all the ports on the back including USB, Thunderbolt, Ethernet, and so on. And iMac line-up gets regular updates unlike Mac mini which seems to be completely forgotten by Apple.
Lastly, there is a financial side of the problem. iMac, of course, is more expensive – the difference lies around $350-400. However, that’s the same amount that you would give for a regular monitor if you buy Mac mini. Basically, the numbers even out after all calculations. This all means that iMac is definitely a better choice for working or using at home. Yes, it’s pricey but it deserves to be.
