Although VR industry is quite developed these days, there’s still a problem – these devices don’t provide enough mobility to users. The headsets have limited battery time and need to be connected to computers which are often plugged into power outlets. That’s why almost a year ago HP showed its solution – a VR computer-backpack called Omen X. And now, the OMEN X by HP Compact Gaming Desktop Computer with VR Backpack available for purchase.
In fact, HP is going to release two models of Omen X VR PC Pack: one for gamers and the other for the commercial segment. Both models will weigh around 4.5kg and have two batteries, attached to the belt of the user. Omen X can work for an hour from these batteries and has its own back-up battery just in case.
Omen X will come out in several modifications – with Intel Core i5 or i7 processors, RAM up to 32GB and discrete graphics. Apart from that, each model will feature an HDMI port, two USB-C ports, two USB 3.0 ports and a headphone jack.
The exact price for Omen X VR PC Pack is yet to be revealed. In any case, VR backpack PCs seem to be becoming a new trend as other companies, such as ZOTAC and MSI, have similar devices as well.
