We’ve recently written about a flying smartphone case/drone that takes selfies. It looks like drones are becoming our everyday companions. For example, Drones Direct created another mobile accessory – they modified their commercial DJI Phantom 4 and attached a small umbrella onto it. Now, the drone can fly above the head of the user and protect from rain.
If the user wants to free his hand from an umbrella to hold something else, he needs to connect the drone to a smartphone. After that, it follows the user everywhere due to GPS. Its creators say that people can walk the dog, ride a bike or talk on the phone in bad weather – the drone will hold the umbrella for you.
The drone is actually pretty smart – it’s wind-resistant, it can go around houses or trees in the way and it films everything with a built-in camera in 4K resolution. One disadvantage – the battery lasts for only 30 minutes of flying. Anyway, this accessory seems quite useful if you live in a place with gloomy and rainy weather. But it is quite pricy – for a modified version users will have to spend around $1700. It doesn’t seem very reasonable but once again, it’s a customer’s choice.
