DJI presented a camera Zenmuse X7 which was designed specifically for drones. The company assures that this is the first digital camera of its kind supporting the format Super-35. It allows using interchangeable lenses and supports the DJI Cinema Color system for making more creative shots. Because the camera is attached to a drone (in particular Inspire 2), it has an integrated mount.
The Zenmuse X7 supports various kinds of video recording: 6K CinemaDNG RAW or 5.2K Apple ProRes (30fps), 3.9K CinemaDNG RAW or 2.7K ProRes (60fps). In addition, the dynamic range of the Zenmuse X7 matrix is increased to 14 stops compared to 12.8 for the Zenmuse X5S. The Zenmuse X7 uses a 23.5 x 15.7 mm sensor with 24MP resolution and a pixel size of 3.91 microns. These characteristics contribute to better quality in low-light conditions and more light capturing.
The camera is compatible with four DL-Mount lenses: 16 mm, 24 mm, 35 mm and 50 mm. They are made of carbon fiber, so they are durable and light – two very important things for drones. The 16mm lens has a built-in ND 4 filter, while 24mm, 35mm and 50mm lenses are equipped with a mechanical shutter.
Obviously, the camera mostly oriented at professional operators who want to achieve the highest quality when shooting video with drones. The DJI Zenmuse X7 costs $2 699, while the whole kit (with all 4 lenses) will cost $6 999.
