Fidget spinners became the most popular toy of this year. Right now, the trend is slowly dying out but there are still many people walking around with these toys and spinning them around. What’s more, because electricity can make everything cooler, some companies even created electric fidget spinners. Unfortunately, they seem to be dangerous – two news agencies in the USA reported about electric spinners exploding when they were being charged.
At first, a battery sounds like an unnecessary element in the spinner. The fact is, companies build various electronics into fidget spinners trying to attract the buyer’s attention. Thus, there are spinners with sound effects, lights and even Bluetooth. Some work on AAA batteries and others – on rechargeable batteries, and that’s where the problem starts.
While charging their little gadgets, two families (from Michigan and Alabama) found that their spinners nearly caught fire. Now, the US Consumer Product Safety Commission has started an investigation. In addition, the commission said that it is investigating cases when children almost choked on the spinners.
Anyway, if you’ve decided to buy an electric fidget spinner, be very careful and attentive – don’t leave them charging through the night. Otherwise, the risk of explosion increases. And also, always watch the children.
