After several changes in the Apple design team (Jony Ive and Christopher Stringer left the company), people around the world became worried that the next-generation iPhone design would look drastically different. And it seems like these suspicions might be true.
According to 9to5Mac, there has been the first presumed leak of iPhone 8 schematics published on the Chinese microblog service Weibo. What’s more, the image appears to come out right from Foxconn. The image also shows that iPhone 8 won’t have a previously rumoured all-screen display. Instead, there are small bezels on top and bottom. Still, this is a big change compared to iPhone 7. Plus, the sketches show that iPhone 8 will be less than 7.2mm thick which is thinner than any other iPhone.
Furthermore, there is no Home button which is likely to be replaced by the fingerprint sensor on the back. In fact, it will have an interesting placement – right in the middle of the phone’s backside so that the Apple Logo remains in its place. Another change is a dual camera with vertical placement of the sensors.
Still, it’s not clear if Apple sticks to this design. In the right top corner of the picture, there is an acronym EVT – Engineering Validation Test. It means that this design has to go through 2 more stages (Design Validation Test and Production Validation) before it is confirmed.
