As we wrote earlier, Xiaomi introduced the latest version of its firmware – MIUI 9 – at the end of July. Gradually, the company was updating its devices to MIUI 9. Just a couple of days ago, Xiaomi updated smartphones Mi 5X, Mi6 and Redmi Note 4X. However, the firmware for these devices was available only in China. Now, the company finally released the global beta version of MIUI 9 for Xiaomi smartphone and phablet mobile devices.
Unfortunately, the list of smartphones or tablets that will support this version is significantly shorter compared the Chinese market. The global beta MIUI 9 will debut only on Redmi 4/4X and Mi6 smartphones. The first test versions are currently available for download on the company’s website. It must be noted that users, who already have stable MIUI versions on their devices, are recommended to install MIUI 9 from scratch via fastboot. Beforehand, it’s necessary to make a back-up copy of all data.
Apart from that, MIUI 9 continues to expand in China. Xiaomi is planning plenty of devices (Mi Mix, Mi Note 2, Mi Max, etc.) on August 25. As a reminder, MIUI 9 is paired with Android 7.0 Nougat and has a set of new features, like Split-Screen, Image Search, an updated user interface, new lockscreen, and so on.
