Usually, gaming laptops are quite massive – they need to have space for a lot of stuff, like a powerful processor, plenty of RAM and most importantly a high-performance graphics card. However, the situation has changed. Now, thanks to the Max-Q technology, it’s possible to install powerful cards, for example, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080, in thin laptops. The company ASUS used this opportunity in its new gaming laptop called ROG Zephyrus GX501VI. The world’s most compact gaming laptop was presented recently and here’s a further review.
This laptop is without a doubt the most compact gaming laptop in the world. Its body thickness ranges from 16.9mm to 17.9mm and the whole device weighs only 2.2kg. All components are made according to the Max-Q design. Despite the compact package, ASUS managed to fit it with great internals: an Intel Core i7 processor and a gaming GeForce GTX 1080 graphics card. Another great feature is WhisperMode – it lowers the noise during games controlling the frame frequency and video settings and optimizing power consumption.
With great power comes an efficient cooling system. For this laptop, ASUS made an active aerodynamic system with the AeroAccelerator technology – instead of lowering productivity, it raises the airflow speed when the laptop is too hot. One more unique feature – the touchpad on this laptop is located at the right side from the keyboard to make gaming even more comfortable.
