2big Dock – External Storage Device with 20TB Memory

Having enough memory is important for any mobile device. You always look at this number when choosing a smartphone, tablet or laptop. But one day, the memory runs out and you need to expand it or delete something. That’s why we have external storage devices where all the data is kept. Usually, 1TB or 2 TB is quite enough but the more is always the better. For example, LaCie just announced 2big Dock and it is the ultimate storage device.

External Storage Device

2big Dock is a functional accessory that would nicely accompany your laptop or desktop computer. Depending on the model, it offers 12TB, 16TB or 20TB of storage. Compared to the previous version, this is a 25-percent increase. To put it in perspective, 20TB is enough for 650 hours of 4K video or 200 000 pictures in RAW format. What’s more, 2big Dock is equipped with Thunderbolt 3, which means that data transfer speeds will be incredible. In fact, the device supports speeds up to 440 Mbps. Basically, one Blue-Ray movie can be transferred in less than a minute.

In addition, 2big Dock has a few more connectivity options. There are slots for CompactFlash and SD cards, a USB 3.0 and USB-C ports for charging a smartphone or a tablet, and a DisplayPort for connection to the monitor. By the way, working efficiency of this device is controlled by special software called LaCie RAID Manager. Even if there is a malfunction, the user is alerted with a smartphone notification.

2big Dock by LaCie comes out in summer and the price is yet to be revealed. But whatever the price is, this device impresses with its functionality. You can make back-up copies of all important data and there’s still a ton of space for other files.
