LG G6, which had just been presented at MWC 2017, featured a 5.7-inch display with unusual height-to-width aspect ratio – 18:9 – and the resolution of 2880×1440. The company called this display FullVision. Obviously, Samsung, one of the main contenders of LG, decided to follow the example and came up with the name for their display which will be fitted on Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus smartphones.
According to rumours and inside information from Evan Blass, both smartphones will have 18:9 height-to-width ratio. What’s more, Samsung filed an application to the U.S. Office of Patents and Trademark to register the name “Infinity Display”. Apparently, that’s what these displays will be called. The name is quite justified as both smartphones have huge displays which take the whole front side and part of the edges.
Also, pre-order and release dates for Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus became available. Both devices may be pre-order from 10th of April while the sales start on 21st of April. The presentation of Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus will be held on March, 29.
