TAG Heuer is a very recognizable name on the watch market. The company is famous for their luxury accessories and also smartwatches. For example, November of 2015 saw the release of a very interesting smartwatch – TAG Heuer Connected. This device became one of the most expensive ones on Android Wear. $1500 seemed too steep, even compared to smartwatches from other brands. Despite the price, the watch turned out to be quite popular, the demand on it is still high. That’s why TAG Heuer is preparing another version for a later release in 2017.
According to Android Headlines, the second generation of TAG Heuer Connected will be unveiled in May. The device will feature the upcoming Android Wear 2.0 which will definitely be new trend after Google and LG launch their smartwatches. Among improvements, we will see a better display and more advanced software as well as better signal reception, bigger battery and NFC. The watch will reportedly be able to determine user’s location with one-meter accuracy. Besides, TAG Heuer cooperated with Intel, so the new smartwatch will be powered on an Intel processor which is a rare thing for Android Wear devices.
As a reminder, since the release of TAG Heuer Connected, 56 thousand of these watches have been sold. The total income is easily calculated – around $80 mill., which is an impressive result for the company. If everything goes right, a new luxury smartwatch may bring even more. We’ll be waiting for more news or official announcements.
