Despite being the undisputed leader on the smartwatch market, Apple hasn’t been very successful in this segment in 2016. In Q3 the company had a big sales decrease, so people even started talking about the third generation of Apple Watches. Apparently, these conversations do have a certain point.
According to DigiTimes, the release of AppleWatch 3 may already happen in Q3 of 2017. This prediction is based on the report by the famous Chinese publisher Economic Daily News. The report tells about the experimental production launch of the updated AppleWatch. Besides, the same source claims that this new device will mostly keep the functionality of older models while being fitted with a bigger battery. Energy efficiency, says the report, is the main priority of Apple. A bigger battery may lead to different size or design but there is no confirmation of cosmetic changes. Perhaps, manufacturers will make the body a bit thinner, which means that the watch will be less tacky.
Earlier, one of Apple’s patents stated that the company really considered reducing the thickness of their smartwatches. According to this patent, it will become possible with a more compact internal component placement. Perhaps, some of them will be built in the watch band, so that there would be more space inside the body for various sensors and a battery with more capacity.
